Why is Remedial Massage a good starting point?
Remedial Massage is an all-rounder, quality treatment to take care of most of your aches, pains, stresses and inflammation. Sometimes you may not need other Health Practitioners, such as, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors etc. You just need a good Massage.
Stress plays heavily into your aches and pains so even a lighter style treatment with a Remedial Therapist would be an effective starting point. Remedial Therapists have a solid understanding of the body and the way it functions. With this knowledge and understanding they can help you to create a Healthcare Team to best suit you and your needs.
At Total Essence we pride ourselves on quality communication, so please ask questions, tell us your treatment goals, specific concerns/requirements and of course the desired level of Massage pressure. Pressure used within a Remedial Massage differs between individuals, please continue to express your desired level of pressure throughout your Remedial Treatment.
Please also mention if there is a particular Therapy or treatment you would like at the time of booking to ensure the best Remedial Therapist is available to suit your needs. Our treatments may comprise of Deep Tissue, Sports or Relaxation Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release or Dry Needling which are included in the price of your Massage. What is Remedial Massage?
Often people ask what the different is between Deep Tissue & Remedial Massage. Deep Tissue is long, deep strokes, whereas Remedial Massage uses a combination of Massage techniques to achieve the desired results.
Dry Needling is the use of fine needles applied directly into the muscle. These needles are used to redirect nerve impulses when damage or tension is occurring. A fine needle is inserted into Trigger Points located within the muscle that is causing the tension and pain. The needle is so fine, that the treatment is virtually painless.
How Dry Needling is different to Acupuncture
Dry Needling is a not the same as Acupuncture, although there are similarities for Musculoskeletal treatments between the two techniques. The main difference between Dry Needling and Acupuncture is the theory behind how the two techniques work. Dry Needling is focused on the reduction of pain and restoration of function through the release of Trigger Points in muscle. In comparison, Acupuncture focuses on the treatment of a range of conditions by restoring the flow of energy (Qi) through key points in the body (Meridians) to restore balance.
